Join the Zero Food Waste Coalition, a national effort to inform and influence U.S. food waste policy at the federal, state, and local levels in order to accelerate progress and build momentum by bringing together stakeholders from across the food system. As a founding member along with ReFED, World Wildlife Fund, and NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), FLPC provides ZFWC with legal and policy research, analysis, and guidance.

This toolkit helps local government leaders and community advocates design and implement policies to prevent food waste, divert surplus food from landfills and incinerators, and support goals like hunger relief, soil health, and economic development. It explains how federal, state, and local policies interact, outlines best practices across a range of policy options, and provides real-world examples and model language that users can adapt to their own communities.
